Frances Cress Welsing was an American afrocentrist and psychiatrist. She was born in Chicago, Illinois. Welsing is known for her views on white supremacy. According to Welsing, White people are the result of genetic mutation and are the children of Africans. She is the author of the well-known The Isis Papers.

Welsing suffered a stroke on January 1, 2016. She was placed under critical condition at a Washington, D.C area hospital. Welsing died a few hours later on the morning of January 2, 2016. She was 80 years old.
